How to enter a coupon prefix in store settings

  Heads up

Configuring the coupon prefix is a one time activity. Once the prefix is entered in the store settings, there's no need to repeat entry for future coupon creation. Remember to include the prefix in the coupon barcode field when creating individual coupons in the Coupon List.

How to

How do I add a coupon prefix to use with scannable in-store coupons or barcodes?

Follow these steps

Many retailers use barcodes to scan coupons to improve efficiency and accuracy when offering discounts through coupons. If you'd rather scan a barcode than select a coupon from the Coupon List at the POS, login to the GT Backend and enter a designated coupon prefix in your store settings. Use this prefix when creating coupons. The prefix lets the POS know to reference the coupon list instead of the product list when scanned.

The prefix should be the first set of characters in the barcode. We recommend using a prefix of 2-4 characters.

To enter the coupon prefix in your store settings, follow these steps.

  1. Select Settings > Store Settings.
  2. Select Edit Store.
  3. Select the Advanced tab.
  4. Enter a 2-4 character prefix under Scan coupon prefix. Select Submit.
  5. When creating future coupons under Products > Promotions > Coupons, include the prefix you just created in the coupon barcode field.
