How do bottle deposits work with WooCommerce?

Question

How do bottle deposits work with WooCommerce?

Answer

Deposit configuration is managed on the WooCommerce side. In GlobalTill, all that is needed is a deposit product equal to the amount of the deposit charged in WooCommerce. The GT Backend will push deposit product data to WooCommerce, which is then used to configure an additional plugin to assign bottle deposits to products in WooCommerce.

There are a variety of apps available for charging additional fees. Some use conditional rules to map fee (deposit) application to tags or product attributes like size or deposit.

Because there are a multitude of ways to configure deposit use in WooCommerce, it's best to reach out to your WooCommerce developer for set-up or if you are experiencing issues.

In our experience working with deposits, if a deposit is charged in GT and not charged in WooCommerce, it's likely that the deposit has not been set up for the specific amount in the plugin used on your site. We recommend reviewing the plugin configuration to ensure mapping is accurate and the deposit exists in the amount you are charging.

To review WooCommerce plugins, follow these steps.

  1. Login to you WooCommerce Admin panel.
  2. From the left hand side menu, select Plugins.
  3. Locate the plugin used in your store. Most plugins display additional options under their name, including Settings, Support and Documentation which you can use to troubleshoot further.
