How do I test webhooks in Shopify?

  Heads up

A webhook is an event notification sent to a URL of your choice. Users can configure them to trigger events on one site to invoke behaviour on another.

Question

Shopify orders have stopped coming through to the Customer Orders section in the GT Backend, how do I confirm the webhooks are active?

Answer

If Shopify orders stop automatically coming through to the Customer Orders list in the GT Backend, it is likely that one of your webhooks has failed.

GlobalTill Support is limited in how we can assist with integration troubleshooting outside of the GT platform, but generally, you can confirm that webhooks are active in Shopify by following these steps.

  1. Login to your Shopify site.
  2. From the sidebar, select Settings, then select Notifications.

  3. Scroll down to Webhooks to confirm all webhooks are present.

Webhook configuration varies from store to store, but generally, you are checking to confirm the webhooks are active. Contact the Shopify specialist who set up the integration if you are unfamiliar with the webhook set-up specific to your store.

  4. Click on Send test notification to send a test notification. A test order will appear in the GT Backend under Selling > Customer Orders if the webhooks are functioning. If you do not receive the test notification, consult with your Shopify specialist for troubleshooting next steps.
