How to use age verification at the POS

Age Verification is available on v4.10.0+.

  Before you start

Enable Prompt for Age Verification in the POS settings to use this feature. Access the POS settings, go to the POS tab and select the Customer Settings dropdown to access the Prompt for Age Verification toggle.

How do I flag a customer profile as Age Verified at the POS?

Follow these steps

To flag a customer profile as Age Verified at the POS, ensure Prompt for Age Verification is enabled, and follow these steps.

Flag Age Verified on a new customer profile

  1. On the POS screen, select the Actions menu.
  2. Select Customer Sign Up.
  3. Enter the customer's information and select Submit to trigger the Age Verification prompt.
  4. To update the Age Verification flag, enter the birthday, then select the checkbox beside I have verified the birthdate entered matches valid government issued photo ID. Select Save. Select Skip to leave the flag unchanged.

Flag Age Verified on an existing customer profile

  1. On the POS screen, select Customer to search for and add the customer to the transaction.
  2. Select the green bubble displaying the customer name to open the Edit Profile window.
  3. Enter the updated profile information and select Save to trigger the Age Verification prompt. If you don't need to update profile information, just press Save to trigger the prompt.
  4. To update the Age Verification flag, enter the birthday, then select the checkbox beside I have verified the birthdate entered matches valid government issued photo ID. Select Save. Select Skip to leave the flag unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

  1. I can't select 'Save' on the Age Verification prompt because it's grayed out. How do I save the changes?
    You must enter a birthday and select the checkbox in order to access the 'Save' button. If you're unable to verify the customer's age, select 'Skip' to leave the verification flag unchanged.
  2. I need to update a customer profile but I don't want to change the current verification status. What should I do?
    Update the profile as usual and simply select 'Skip' when prompted for age verification.
  3. Do I have to verify the age on every new profile I create?
    From a technical perspective, no. You can create a profile without updating the Age Verification flag by selecting 'Skip' on the Age Verification prompt. Reach out to your compliance contact for more information about age verification policies specific to your organization.
